Another beautiful skyline in paradise is on the horizon.

Daylight breaks as we turn on the dirt county road.

The horses see us from a distance. They start galloping at a fast speed and stir up a cloud of dust.

The horses come to a hault halfway to the dirt road as they view us driving onward.

Awww….Little Buddy is late to the party.

The sun is amazing looking as the rays break through the clouds.

The view to my right looks like a completely different morning with shades of blue and gray and white.

The landscape in Southeastern Montana definitely looks like Fall.

Crossing the Powderville River the water looks low.

Today we are hiking on Nellie’s, our Montana Mom’s ranch. This is the view coming down her long ranch road to her Homestead.

Her black cattle are grazing near the driveway. They speckle the dry golden grasslands on her ranch.

Up the hill, a bit are her horses at the gate to the next pasture. If truth be told, they are probably waiting to be fed.

Good morning grandma Nell.

We stop and visit every time to say good morning and get a prayer in to bless our day and our finds.

I don’t usually take her picture but this cowgirl who is a true pioneer woman (she still lives with no electricity) looks too cute to resist a photo.

Nellie has another busy day on the ranch and she takes off to get her chores done. We hike on foot so we better get rockin too!

It is impossible to get through this gate to the pasture behind with the hungry horses at bay. Today our hiking starts right at Nell ‘s homestead. We hike for a living, so no worries!

We’ve hiked all these hills for over 20 years so her 10,000 acre ranch is like the familiarity of being home.🦖

This trip we are headed in the right direction and drive around the corral.

The structure in the distance is on Nellie‘s ranch. It was originally a school house. The teacher lived here on the prairie and taught the kids by day.

Here is a close-up view of the old school house as we drive by.

Nellie is in her early 80’s (83 years old in January). She and the neighboring ranch kids went to school here back in the day. Nellie told us she many fond memories of her school days.

Awww… we hate to leave, but we have to get back to town.

I’ll get the gate new adventures await for us next time!🦖

This time of the year, we never know when it will be our last adventure before winter sets in, but we are hopeful.

Look at that cloud of dust the cattle semi truck is stirring up. This rancher is driving like a bat out of hell and doesn’t appear to be slowing down, so we pull over and let him pass.

We’re back on the black top and our favorite horses and Buddy are close enough to take a few photographs.

We enjoyed seeing the deep yellow-orange fall leaves in the cottonwood trees on our journey today.

On our next adventure winter will be settling in and all the leaves could be blown away.
