In like a lamb and back out to the Badlands.

Beautiful colors on the horizon.

Cattle lined up for breakfast.

A little bit of snow is left on the prairie.

It’s great to be on the dirt road headed for an awesome adventure.

Cattle in the distance are grazing.

The land looks bare after winter but it’s a welcomed sight to us.

Cattle love to eat roadside.

The cows usually decide to cross the road or head back to the prairie as we drive past.

I spot a mule deer. All the wildlife really blends into the landscape.

Our adventure for the day begins as we hike towards the Badlands.

This rock formation is interesting so I capture it in the next photographs.

A spectacular view looking back as we hike higher up on the buttes.

It’s a wonderful day to be out in Hell Creek. There are areas of snow and wet gray clay, but we are able to navigate around it safely.

We've climbed to the top of the buttes and continue onward.

We were hiking up high but the backside of this butte became low ground in an instant.

The north side of the buttes have more snow in the drawls and are slick.

We walk through the grasslands towards the Badlands in the distance.

A visually interesting sand formation in the distance. I capture several photographs as we walk closer.

The surface of the ground is cracked grey clay. It feels spongy to walk on, while other areas are slick from the snow melt.

Small fragments of dinosaur bones are scattered along the path of the snow melt on top of the grey clay surface.

I spy a Thescelosaurus vertebra in the sand.

Pictured are several dinosaur bone fragments laying on the surface.

Often we discover crystals that have formed on the landscape.

We pass a wetland area, which is a rare site.

Also rare in the area is this beautiful grouping of trees.

It has been a long day of hiking. I capture views of the buttes from the grasslands coming back from our adventure.

It was amazing to be out in nature today. I'll get the gate, another day in the Badlands awaits!

Montana rush hour traffic! This deer is probably the only thing we're going to pass on the dirt road on our journey home.

We are headed through the "Saddle Back" on this curvy part of the county road.

This is an old homestead that is barely still standing.

We've made it to the highway and head towards town.
