Aussie-mazing Day!

eahooley

Our friend Elliot/client of 20 years came from Australia for an epic hiking dinosaur adventure May of 2024 with the Hooleys!

It looks like a gorgeous Spring day but it was absolutely freezing and the wind was blowing at least 30-35 mph. And none of us had a jacket on!

I usually have a pile of thick warm hoodies from small to extra large, winter beanies, scarves, extra warm gloves and even a brand new men’s winter jacket that is wind, water and blizzard proof, no one has ever used. But since I was going to have company in the back seat I cleaned out the Explorer …so it was nice and roomy. 😳😂

None of us thought of jackets in town as we loaded up our backpacks into the Explorer. We were so excited to meet each other and hear about Elliot’s travels.

But no worries….Elliot’s excitement wasn’t lacking. I’m sure his smile was actually frozen.

Beautiful Spring wildflowers were scattered all over the buttes. Usually this region is painfully dry and devoid of life but this Spring it was green and lush with Spring wildflowers that I had never seen in Powderville.

At least we all had hats …although it was so windy we had to hold onto our heads or our hats would of blown away!

We hiked to the famous “Ship Hill” 🦖

It was a couple of hours later into our adventure….we explored Ship Hill and now the sun was warmer and the wind had finally died down a bit. We hiked where no Hooley had been in a long time, in hopes of finding something amazing!

Ok …clearly it’s still windy at the top of the buttes but we are all having such an excellent time!

The views were amazing and our time together hiking and exploring priceless!

I’ll get the gate…New adventures await tomorrow!

Beautiful pines thru the Saddleback …as we make our journey back to town.

It’s calving season in Big Sky country. We see little ones everywhere on the grasslands.

We are starving, we hiked for miles in the Badlands with Elliot (who was an amazing hiker by the way). We are headed to the Black Iron our favorite (and only) steak house to take Elliot out to dinner.

We hope we added unforgettable moments of a lifetime on his trip to America to the Cretaceous Badlands!🦖
